Split Rail System

STEP 1
Install protective covering over seats.

 

STEP

Place Template on car at C” Dimensions specified equalising the distance from side to side of car.

 

Note:  Not shown is the 3636 which came as the stock size in many GM applications (Nova Skyroof).

STEP 3. Marking Aperture
Details
Mark

centre line of car side to side at edge of front of aperture. The centre line must be used to set front stiffener position (See fig 10).

 

STEP 4. (a) Suspended Lining (soft vinyl liner)
Dril 4 x1/4” dia. holes through the roof panel at the four corners of the aperture.

STEP 4. (b) Cutting the Headlining
Details
Pierce the headlining using a bradawl through the four ¼” dia. holes at the corners of the aperture. The bradawl should be held at as sharp an angle as possible. Where four holes have pierced the lining, cut well inside these holes making sure the corners of the cut are radiused to prevent headlining tearing.
NOTE
If interior light is installed in aperture area remove and re-position on cant rail.

(c) Removal of Listing Rails
Details
Cut out any listing rails that project into aperture, these listing rails may in some cases be removed but if their retention is necessary to maintain the headlining form they should be cut at the edge of the aperture, their ends being flattened and then riveted up flush to roof aperture.
(d) Removal of Roof Reinforcement Details
Remove any roof reinforcements that project into the aperture. Remove any insulation on the roof panel far enough back to miss the stiffeners.
