We lived through the old school mini-truck boom  when convertible conversion kits were king.  Here’s a blast from the past.  Ragtime Mini truck soft top convertibles were created in California and first mass marketed through CR Laurence, then sold to a gentleman in San Francisco where the concept of cutting the roof off your mini truck began to take hold.  Ragtime Mini added the removable hardtop kit’s to the lineup and the trend was born. Those assets were later purchased by Ragtime Mini’s then largest customer, Hot Tops out of Tempe, Arizona and they really put the truck roadster kits on the map with their convertible hard top kits and soft tops kits for pretty much any truck.  Back in the day, the hottest selling convertible kits were for Nissan trucks (Datsun 620, Nissan 720 and eventually the Nissan Hardbody trucks), Toyota mini trucks, especially the 1985-up standard cabs and the old body S-10 trucks.  In 1986, Mazda came out with a challenge with their new and super cool B-series mini trucks.  Later in 1988 Isuzu really stepped up the styling with their totally clean and “modern” mini trucks and gave both Nissan and Toyota a run for their money in the world of custom mini trucks.  Lastly, the new and re-bodied Toyota Tacoma took the mini truck  world by storm adn became a hot cantidate for a convertible conversion.  In about 1988, Ratical tops came on the scene with their own version of hardtop convertible kits and soft top convertible kits for any truck and really pushed the market for a few more years.  With everything old becoming new again, we started getting loads of calls and emails from truck customizers looking for roadster kits and alas, we dusted off our old molds, warmed up our old tooling and once again are releasing our line of truck convertible kits.  We have old style ABS removable hard top convertible kits for Nissan trucks, Datsun trucks, Toyota trucks, Dodge trucks, Chevrolet (Chevy) trucks and Mazda trucks.  For 1993-up S10 truck convertible kits, click here.  For universal truck convertible kit installation instructions, click here.
